README: Untangling the ethics of “sustainable” cashmere

This collection includes datasets, reports, preprints, and other research contributions resulting from a pilot research project investigating ethics and sustainability in the cashmere commodity chain.

The project, carried out in 2022-2024, was directed by Dr. Eric Thrift (University of Winnipeg) and conducted in partnership with the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations under the auspices of UNESCO (IISNC) and the Culture and Development Research Centre. Funding was provided by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada under the Insight Development Grants program. Additional in-kind supports were provided by the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia.
