UNESCO-IISNC Nomadic culture and sustainability

This collection currently includes datasets, reports, preprints, and other research contributions resulting from a pilot research project investigating ethics and sustainability in the cashmere commodity chain. The project, carried out in 2022-2024, was directed by Dr. Eric Thrift (University of Winnipeg) and conducted in partnership with the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-IISNC) and the Culture and Development Research Centre (MCDRC). Funding was provided by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada under the Insight Development Grants program. Additional in-kind supports were provided by the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia.
