These interviews were conducted by researchers from the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations as part of the project "Untangling the ethics of sustainable cashmere", funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and directed by Dr. Eric Thrift at the University of Winnipeg.

UNESCO-IISNC Nomadic culture and sustainability

This collection currently includes datasets, reports, preprints, and other research contributions resulting from a pilot research project investigating ethics and sustainability in the cashmere commodity chain. The project, carried out in 2022-2024, was directed by Dr. Eric Thrift (University of Winnipeg) and conducted in partnership with the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-IISNC) and the Culture and Development Research Centre (MCDRC). Funding was provided by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada under the Insight Development Grants program. Additional in-kind supports were provided by the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia.
