Item metadata¶
The following fields are provided in the metadata-<LANG>.docx
file for each
item.
Dublin Core¶
- DCTERMS.title
- A name given to the resource. This will be the title provided by the author, if available, for a published resource; or it may indicate the page or item-number in a set of items such as a collection of untitled photographs.
- DCTERMS.subject
- The topic of the resource. Use keyword tags for this field, separated by newline characters.
- DCTERMS.description
- An account of the resource. Description may include but is not limited to: an abstract, a table of contents, a graphical representation, or a free-text account of the resource.
- DCTERMS.creator
- An entity primarily responsible for making the resource.
- DCTERMS.source
- The resource from which the described resource is derived. The described resource may be derived from the related resource in whole or in part. If you are referencing an online resource, it would be helpful to include a URL here; any address in angle brackets will be converted to a clickable link in HTML output.
- DCTERMS.publisher
- An entity responsible for making the resource available.
- DCTERMS.date
- A point or period of time associated with an event in the lifecycle of the resource. Where applicable, we use this field to identify the date of creation of the original resource, not the digitized version.
- DCTERMS.contributor
- An entity responsible for making contributions to the resource.
- DCTERMS.rights
- Information about rights held in and over the resource. Typically, rights information includes a statement about various property rights associated with the resource, including intellectual property rights.
- DCTERMS.relation
- A related resource.
- DCTERMS.format
- The file format, physical medium, or dimensions of a resource. Examples include size and duration. For this field we use the Internet Media Types (MIME), such as “text/html” or “image/jpeg”. This field is populated automatically.
- DCTERMS.language
- A language of the resource. Examples: English; Mongolian; French.
- DCTERMS.type
- The nature or genre of the resource. Items in this archive are listed using a subset of the DCMI Type Vocabulary: Text (any type of document), Image, Moving Image, and Sound. The field is populated automatically.
- DCTERMS.identifier
- An unambiguous reference to the resource within a given context. We use a UUID, or “universally unique identifier” string, to label each item. All the downloadable files associated with an item have this identifier string inserted into their filename.
- DCTERMS.coverage
- The spatial or temporal topic of the resource, the spatial applicability of the resource, or the jurisdiction under which the resource is relevant. Spatial topic and spatial applicability may be a named place or a location specified by its geographic coordinates. Temporal topic may be a named period, date, or date range. A jurisdiction may be a named administrative entity or a geographic place to which the resource applies.
- original_filename
- The filename of the originally uploaded, untagged digital object. This field is populated automatically when tagging files, but you may also use the original filename field as a key (identifier) when entering metadata for untagged files.
Additional fields¶
- remote_embed_url
- A URL for embedded video or other media file to be included in the HTML item description page, instead of linking to a local file. (Provide the bare URL, without angle brackets.)
- public
- Whether the full item should be copied in the HTML catalogue. The value is TRUE by default and if the “public” field is absent, but may be set explicitly as FALSE. If FALSE, thumbnail images and video contact sheets will still be provided, but video, audio, and derivative pdf files will not be copied over. This setting is to allow you to include items in the catalogue for which you do not have distribution rights, but that you would still like to reference.
